Rev. Don Gann in view of a call

At the conclusion of the sermon at both morning services on December 3, the church majority voted to call Bro. Don as the Senior Pastor.  

On November 26, the Pastor Search Committee unanimously recommended that the church invite Rev. Don Gann to come in view of a call to be the next Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church Oxford.  Don accepted Christ at the age of 10 and was baptized at First Baptist Church in Vicksburg, MS.  In 1982, he earned a Bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University before completing his Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX.  Bro. Don’s previous ministry positions included serving as the Director of Religious Activities for the Baptist Student Union at Mississippi College (1988-1996); Pastor of Wynndale Baptist Church in Terry, MS (1996-2003); and most recently as the Director of Men’s Ministry for the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board (2004-present).

Don’s family includes his wife, best friend, and love of his life, Dr. Melinda Gann, a professor of mathematics at Mississippi College; daughter Kelli, a third grade teacher in New Orleans; and son Michael and daughter-in-law, Kayla.  Michael is a graphic designer, while Kayla works in the insurance industry.
